Few things are more annoying than a dead battery. You therefore want to prevent this at all times, so it is useful to know how much percent battery you have left. Fortunately, there are several ways to make the battery percentage visible on your iPhone 11 and older devices.

The way in which you display the percentage of battery depends on your iPhone. There are two variants. One for the devices with a notch and one for the devices without a notch. Let’s start with the devices that don’t have a notch on the top yet.

Make the battery percentage visible on an iPhone without a notch

If you are using the iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 8 or an older model, you can turn on the battery percentage in the setting. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘Battery’ and switch on ‘Battery percentage’ . Then you can see in the top right corner of the screen how many percent battery you have left.

This also works if you want to display the battery percentage of your iPad or iPod touch (7th generation). For these devices and the aforementioned iPhone models, the battery percentage is also always visible when you put the device in energy-saving mode.

Make the battery percentage visible on an iPhone 11 or X

If you own an iPhone with a notch (iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, X, Xr, Xs or Xs Max) and you want to see how much battery percentage you have left, it works slightly differently. To see the battery percentage you do not have to go to the settings first, but you have to perform a simple operation.

You can see how many percent of the battery you have left in the control panel. To make it visible, just swipe down from the top right corner of the screen. The battery percentage will then appear at the top right of the screen. You can do this from your Home screen and from the Lock screen.

Another way to see what percentage of battery you have left

Isn’t the above way what you were hoping for? Then don’t worry, there are also two other ways to make your battery percentage visible. The first is to use Siri. Question: “what’s my battery percentage” and Siri will answer this question for you. Both for your iPhone and for other devices that are connected (for example your Apple Watch).

If you prefer to discover in silence what percentage of battery your iPhone and other devices still have, there is another way. You can also consult the battery widget. When you swipe to the right on your iPhone you will see all the widgets you have set. At the top you can search by battery. You can then add this widget by tapping the green plus. Then you can drag the battery widget with the three bars icon.

Notch gets in the way of battery percentage

Do you always want to be able to see how much battery percent you have left at the top of the screen (such as with models for the iPhone X)? Then we have bad news. This is not possible due to a lack of space. The notch is in the way. Who knows, they might find a solution for this in iOS 14. You can read everything we already know about the new version of the operating system here.
