Magico M7 Floorstanding Loudspeakers

Introducing Magico M7 - Magico, a leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance speakers, is pleased to announce the innovative M7 speaker.

Magico, a leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance speakers, is pleased to announce the innovative M7 speaker. In June 2020, Magico, LLC introduced the incomparable flagship M9 speaker. The M9 remains the most advanced and highest-performing speaker in Magico’s history.

Everything that was discovered in the extensive research and development program carried out for the M9 has now been summarized in the Magico M7.

The Magico M7 is a four-way, six-driver floorstanding speaker capable of delivering amazing performance. Featuring the latest Magico drive unit technology, an organically shaped aluminum and carbon fiber enclosure, and the latest Elliptical Symmetry crossover, the M7 is a tour de force of advanced speaker engineering.

The M7 was conceived by founder and CEO Alon Wolf as a more affordable version of the semi-active M9. Magico’s engineering team created the fully passive M7, capable of delivering sound quality never before achieved in a speaker of its size. Magico leveraged tools such as a Klippel near-field scanner and a Polytec laser Doppler vibrometer, among many other advanced tools, along with two decades of design experience in creating the industry’s most advanced loudspeakers. The result of the M7 development project has surprised Magico engineers. In the final development phase in the Magico listening room, the M7 proved to be much more than the sum of its considerable bill of materials.

Latest generation transducers

All M7 drivers were designed to eliminate music-related distortions in frequency and time domains. Its design was optimized using the latest state-of-the-art FEA simulation. Acoustic, mechanical, electromagnetic, and thermal behaviors were examined on a single platform, allowing simultaneous optimization of each parameter.

The maximum expression of our twitter technology

The M7 uses the tweeter designed for the M9. This 28mm high-frequency speaker uses a beryllium diaphragm with optimized geometry. The diaphragm is then coated with diamond using a chemical vapor deposition process to bring the beryllium substrate closer to the theoretical ideal. Magico engineers created a new neodymium-based motor system with the lowest possible distortion, enormous dynamic capability, and even greater power handling than previous designs. Finally, the acoustic performance of the rear chamber was improved with careful FEA modeling. This driver’s high-frequency detail recovery is simply unmatched by any competing design.

A most wonderful mid-range

The M7’s 5″ pure midrange speaker features a Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone formed by an aluminum honeycomb core sandwiched with graphene-infused carbon fiber outer and inner layers. The advanced cone is supported by a newly designed basket assembly and an innovative foam frame, the latter to help achieve ideal cone/surround integration. The result is faster break-in time and impressively low distortion. The new neodymium-based suspended motor system uses two extra-large magnets to facilitate a super-stabilized magnetic field. A pure copper post cap minimizes stray currents and maximizes efficiency. This new development in midrange driver technology sets a new benchmark for performance measured in frequency and time domains. This is the highest performing 5″ midrange ever developed.

Music lives in the lower middle

The M7’s 9″ mid-bass driver uses a newly designed basket assembly along with Magico’s Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone, which consists of an aluminum honeycomb core sandwiched with carbon fiber outer and inner layers with graphene infusion. This drive unit has a 127mm voice coil and a neodymium-based suspended motor system that uses two extra-large magnets. Vented pure titanium voice coil former allows +/-13mm of stable movement. This highly sensitive driver can generate an output 120d at 1m on its band. By separating the power region from the lower octaves, the M7’s mid-bass section brings music to life in a way that no other design can match except the M9.

Bass that moves you

The M7’s new 12″ bass driver uses a newly designed basket assembly and Magico Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone, which includes an aluminum honeycomb core sandwiched with graphene-reinforced carbon fiber outer and inner layers. This control unit has a 127mm voice coil. This neodymium-based suspended motor system uses an extra large magnet and a top magnet to obtain a super-stabilized magnetic field. The parts include a huge copper cap and a vented titanium voice coil former, contributing to +/-15mm stable movement at very high sensitivity. A new composite spider ensures great heat dissipation without rolling distortion. This driver is capable of 120d SPL @ 25Hz measured at 1m

Organically shaped enclosure

Magico’s continued research and development to eliminate enclosure vibration and stored energy has achieved numerous innovative advances. The M7 case design is not possible using common sheet construction methods. The M7’s shell starts with a carbon fiber monocoque shell conceived using finite element analysis (FEA modeling). A multiple 6061-6 aluminum front baffle with constrained layer damping using aerospace composites is attached to an aluminum rear baffle with front-to-rear tension. The result is a cabinet that produces negligible internal resonances, allowing for a minimal amount of damping; again, a design is conceptually optimized and then tested until perfect. The shape of the deflector was refined until almost no diffraction effects could be measured.

The overall structure of the M7 results in maximum strength in each axis, with extreme rigidity and minimal energy storage. The M7 has, essentially, a silent enclosure

Elliptic symmetry filter

Magico’s elliptical symmetry crossover (ESXO) is used in its most advanced and expensive form in the M7. The four-way filter contains components from Germany’s Mundorf and Denmark’s Duelund Coherent Audio; only the best of their types and values were selected. The M7’s ESXO crossover seamlessly integrates the six drive units into a virtual point source: all six speakers sound as a complete whole.

Attention to details

A bespoke support system developed specifically for the M7 uses MPOD technology to provide a stable footprint while eliminating noise and achieving perfect ground engagement. Additionally, the M7’s support system offers a subtle visual contrast to the carbon fiber and aluminum enclosures.

Finally, on the back of each M7 is a chrome plate with Alon Wolf’s signature. This indicates Wolf’s endorsement of every M7 that leaves the Magico factory.

M7 enters the pantheon of great Magicians

Never before has a fully passive design capable of delivering such amazing performance. For those waiting for something truly special, the M7 is here and waiting to be heard.
