Lidl launched smart home products: The supermarket chain comes with its own line of smart products, all based on the Zigbee protocol and compatible with Philips Hue.
After the Action, HEMA and many other companies that offer smart home products at low prices, Lidl now also wants to appropriate a piece of the smart home pie. The supermarket chain comes with its own line of smart products, all based on the Zigbee protocol.
Lidl launched smart home products
Lidl immediately takes it seriously because the company markets a full range of products. All products communicate using the well – known Zigbee protocol , which Philips Hue and IKEA, among others, also use. However, Zigbee does require a hub to communicate with and that is why Lidl is also releasing a Zigbee gateway in addition to a lot of smart products. This gateway costs 19.99 euros.
You can connect various products to the gateway, including the LED lamp with color display. This comes in a GU10, E27 and E14 variant and costs 12.99 euros. In addition, Lidl will bring window and door sensors (12.99 euros), smart plugs (9.99 euros), smart sockets (24.99 euros), LED ceiling lamps (39.99 – 49.99 euros), a motion sensor (9 , 99 euros), recessed spotlights (29.99 euros per three), an LED strip (29.99 euros) and LED Christmas lights (49 euros).
Lidl Home app, Google Assistant and remote control
The gateway makes it possible to connect and operate the different products with the Lidl Home app. With this app you can set different light scenes, control all lights, set timers and automate (if movement is detected, turn on the lamp). You can also link the gateway to the Google Assistant for voice control. For example, you can turn on the lights by giving a command to Google Home.
Finally, there is the possibility to operate lamps with a remote control, but the price and availability of this accessory is still missing on the company’s website . For the time being, the remote control is only available in a starter set with three lamps and the gateway.
Compatible with Philips Hue
However, you do not necessarily have to use the Lidl gateway yourself. The products of the supermarket chain are compatible with Philips Hue and IKEA Home Smart. So you can add a Lidl lamp to your Philips Hue ecosystem.
All Lidl smarthome products are on sale from Friday 27 November.
