Libratone comes with two new speakers during the IFA 2018 for his Zipp and Mini-speakers. The new editions have received the illustrious names Zipp 2 and the Mini 2 and will be released in October. Whether they are also available in the Netherlands is still the question.
Libratone comes with two new speakers- Zipp 2 and Zipp Mini 2
The new speakers look like the design on the original Zipp models. These are speakers that are provided with a fabric cover and the distinctive zipper. This makes it possible to provide the speakers with a new color if desired. But they are two improved speakers, which also bring innovations with respect to the previous generations.
The most important addition is in Amazon Alexa. That means that from now on it is possible to talk to your speaker, to ask if the speaker wants to play a song for you and other Alexa tasks. This way you can ask what the weather will be, but also ask a random factual question. Older models also offer support for Alexa, but you have to press a button to use it. The new version is completely hands free.
Improved speakers
According to Libratone, the Zipp 2 offers richer sound than the previous model. It also offers 360-degree sound and an improved acoustic reflector to enable better sound quality. In the device you will find a 4-inch woofer, 1-inch soft dome tweeter and two 4-inch low frequency radiators. Furthermore, the Mini 2 has a 3-inch woofer, 1-inch soft dome tweeter and two 3.5-inch low frequency radiators.
The Zipp 2 can be used on a fully charged battery for a total of twelve hours. How long the Mini 2 can handle is not certain. The new speakers will be released on the market in October, but we are not sure whether this will be immediately in the Netherlands. The Libratone Zipp 2 has a suggested retail price of 279 pounds (308 euros) and the Mini 2 of 229 pounds (252 euros). It is likely that euro prices will be higher because import duties have to be paid, among other things.
