LG officially no longer makes smartphones: LG has announced in a press release from the smartphone market to stop. The last few weeks have seen a lot of rumors about this news and the bullet is now officially through the church.
LG no longer makes smartphones
The board of directors has agreed to the “strategic decision”. In the future, the company will focus on various consumer products, such as electronic vehicles, connected devices, smarthomes, robotics, artificial intelligence and solutions for businesses.
That said, LG will still focus on other parts of the mobile market. For example, investments are made in network technology, such as 6g. The closing of the mobile department is expected to be completed by July 31. There, employees of local departments are told what else is intended – whether they will be offered a different position or unfortunately dismissed.
Furthermore, the current inventory remains available for sale. Owners of various LG smartphones will also receive updates and support “for the time being”. However, this may vary by region. Unfortunately, it has not been announced for how long that support will remain. It is also not clear to what extent this decision will impact the rollout of Android 11. In any case, we no longer need to Rollable smartphone.
