LG OLED EX introduces for higher brightness and better colors-  OLED EX is a new technology that is used in LG Display’s OLED panels. According to the manufacturer, this takes the brightness to a higher level and the colors are displayed more accurately. Simply put, OLED EX should offer better image quality than the OLED panels of previously launched televisions.

In 2021 LG already released OLED Evo on the market. According to the manufacturer, these panels offer 20 percent more brightness than regular panels. OLED EX goes one step further, with 30 percent more brightness and more accurate color reproduction. For both techniques use is made of so-called deuterium compounds in the diodes, the organic elements of OLED panels that emit light. This addition allows the diodes to emit more light without sacrificing long-term efficiency.

A machine learning algorithm is used for better color rendering. This looks at users’ viewing patterns and based on this data, the algorithm controls the power input from the screen to display colors more accurately. An additional advantage of OLED EX is that screens can be made even thinner. According to LG, the profile can be reduced from 6 to 4 millimeters.

OLED EX will be deployed from the second quarter of 2022, but it is not yet clear whether consumers will also be able to go to the store for an OLED EX television.
