LG announces upgraded OLED TVs and QNED TVs for 2022: LG announced its TV lineup for 2022 today at CES 2022. At first glance, the South Korean manufacturer mainly makes small improvements and keeps the major innovations for next year. In any case, we can expect a complete OLED TV line-up and LCD TV line-up from LG again this year in the Netherlands and Belgium.

upgraded OLED TV

LG is renewing its complete OLED TV line-up this year, but the OLED EX Technology what the company itself was still talking about at the end of last year, we will not see again for the time being. We do see the OLED Evo technology, which we still know from the G1 series from last year, back. This technology can be found not only on the G-series but also on the C-series this year.

The OLED Evo technology in both the G2 and C2 series delivers a higher brightness, according to LG. Powered by LG’s new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 5 processor, LG’s Brightness Booster technology enables the G2 Series TVs to deliver even more brightness through improved heat dissipation and an advanced algorithm. Our review will show whether this will actually provide better image quality.

LG’s 2022 G2 series introduces a new 83-inch model and the world’s first 97-inch OLED model to complement the 55-, 65- and 77-inch TVs already in the lineup. Like last year, the G2 series features a flush-to-the-wall Gallery Design. LG’s C2 series offers the most diverse selection of screen sizes with a total of six for 2022: in addition to the small 42-inch version, a 48-, 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inch version will be on the market.

The latest OLED TVs from LG are equipped with full HDR support (Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG), are equipped with Dolby Atmos support, offer Filmmaker Mode and have HDMI 2.1 ports. The TVs also come with support for Nvidia GeForce Now and Google Stadia. New for 2022, users will be able to select and switch game-specific features and display presets from the TV’s Game Optimizer menu. The Game Optimizer menu provides quick access to the new Dark Room Mode, which adjusts the screen brightness for a better gaming experience in the dark. Settings for G-SYNC Compatible, FreeSync Premium, and variable refresh rate (VRR) can be accessed through Game Optimizer. In addition, a new sports mode has been added to presets for first-person shooter, role-playing and real-time strategy games, providing more details for a realistic gaming experience.

upgraded OLED TV: Better processor and even smarter

In most new LG TV models, the α9 Gen 5 processor uses deep learning to improve upscaling performance and give images a three-dimensional quality by better distinguishing foreground and background elements. The α 9 Gen 5 also expands the capabilities of LG’s AI Sound Pro feature by allowing the TV’s built-in speakers to produce virtual 7.1.2 surround sound.

webOS 22 introduces personal profiles for a personalized viewing experience. Under each profile, users can set up quick access to their favorite streaming services, get tailored recommendations based on their viewing history, and receive real-time alerts to keep up to date with favorite sports teams. Logging in to profiles can be done both via the TV browser and via a smartphone with NFC Magic Tap.

NFC Magic Tap can also be used to mirror the screen of a mobile device to an LG TV. Viewers can also mirror content in their home from one TV to another using Room To Room Share. Watches cable or satellite content on another TV over WiFi without an additional set-top box. Always Ready turns an LG TV into a media display when not in use. Always Ready is activated with a press of the power button on the LG Remote to transform the screen into a digital canvas for displaying artwork, keeping time or playing music.

In addition, the upgrade of ThinQ AI allows LG’s 2022 TVs to become a smart home hub. ThinQ provides voice control and compatibility with other ThinQ devices. And now also offers support for Matter.

2022 QNED TVs

LG is also bringing an extensive QNED TV line-up to the Netherlands and Belgium for 2022. The TVs are equipped with Quantum Dot NanoCell technology for a true-to-life color reproduction with 100 percent color volume and natural mini LED for higher brightness and precise control over the backlight. All models from the QNED90 Series onwards are certified for 100% color consistency, so viewers see the same, high-quality image every time, even from different perspectives.
