KPN tests personal television advertisements

KPN has announced that the company has started with the testing of personalized television commercials. The people who want this have to give permission for this. As an example, the company uses a family that often watches sports programs and thus receives a lot of sports advertising. Currently, the test is held with a small group of employees of the provider. They have given permission to share information as gender, age and location for personal TV advertising.

It is also the case that this only happens with SBS6. All information that KPN collects is merged with the subscriptions to channel packages, so that a profile can be compiled. This information is not shared with third parties; users can also always withdraw the permission granted. The test starts in October of this year and ends at the end of 2018. If all this went well, then of course the telecom provider will roll out the personal advertisement to everyone.

KPN’s set-top boxes already put the company in will replace advertisements for personal ads, so you may not need new hardware for this. After SBS6, the channels Veronica, SBS9 and Net5 will be next. Furthermore, KPN wants to use the profiles to give personal viewing tips, as Netflix already does.
