KEF launches the LSX as KEF is again introducing a loudspeaker system in the LS series, the LSX. The KEF LSX is an active speaker pair that can be set within minutes with the KEF Control app, which also manages feature and firmware updates via over-the-air downloads. “Compact, effortless to operate and with all connectivity options to meet music streaming and playback of TV sound, in true stereo!”

The KEF LSX not only monitors the LS50 Wireless, but also shares a a large part of the acoustic engineering that made the product so successful – including a version of KEF’s Uni-Q driver (4 inch), an innovation that improves the stereo image and enables a wide listening area.

The LSX is a compact wireless music system with two loudspeakers that focuses next to audio quality on the convenience and connectivity of the wireless world; the set is completely wireless, both from the source and between the speakers, with AirPlay 2 (from January 2019) for Apple multi-room.

The compact LSX system can boast KEF’s Music Integrity Engine, a selection of customized made algorithms for digital signal processing that ensure accurate time alignment and phase coherence. The result is, although LSX measures about half of the LS50, a display that is larger than that size suggests. Whoever has heard the LS50 at work, passive or active, knows that that is not an empty statement.

In connection with Apple Music and TIDAL, there is access to the music via DLNA a network server or PC. In addition, there is Bluetooth 4.2. This combination makes LSX suitable for music and TV, for which it has both TOSLINK optical and auxiliary inputs.

KEF once again cooperated with a well-known designer for its appearance. This time industrial designer Michael Young signed for the beautiful shape. The models in black, blue, maroon and olive green are covered with a luxury fabric from the Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat, and there is a fifth version in glossy white.

On the inside we find 2 x 30Watt and 2 x 70Watt class -D amplifiers. The EQ settings can be adjusted via the KEF Control app, with dedicated apps for iOS and Android.

The KEF LSX is experiencing its international introduction today, on 1 November. The first models you will soon find at the dealer, for a suggested retail price of 1.199 euros per pair. Count on a limited availability in November and December, with sufficient supply in early 2019. We already received a brand new set, so the first review you can also expect quickly. To be continued!
