Apple has started rolling out iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5. The latest versions of the operating systems for smartphones and tablets include App Tracking Transparency, which allows users to determine themselves whether they want to be tracked by companies and advertising platforms. If you come across an app that you want to follow via other apps and websites, a pop-up will appear asking if you would like it.
iOS 14.5 available for download now
Apple itself released a short video about it, which you can watch below.
In addition, the operating system offers a handy trick for people who often wear a mouth mask and want to unlock their phone. If you are in possession of an Apple Watch, you can enter your phone via the computer on your wrist. You do not have to use Face ID, a password or pin code. You do need watchOS 7.4 for this, so you have to download that too.
IPadOS and iOS 14.5 also offer new emoji and the Apple Podcast app can count on a new design, as well as optional subscriptions. You can now also use the controllers of the Xbox Series X| S and PlayStation 5 and Siri is no longer set by default with her feminine sounding voice. Here you read what else Apple has changed about the software.
