IKEA Tradfri GU10 launched – IKEA’s Tradfri line is being expanded. The Scandinavian furniture giant comes with colored LED spots with GU10 fitting. There are nine colors to choose and dimming is also possible.

IKEA Tradfri GU10

It is the first time that colored spots are added to the Tradfri line. Previously, there were only white spots where you could adjust and dim the hue. It’s not the only announcement IKEA has been making lately. There will also be a shortcut button and Silverglans. The latter can dim or switch on ten light sources at the same time. The shortcut button has unfortunately been delayed and is expected in the spring.

The newly announced GU10 color LED lamp can provide up to 345 lumens of brightness. It costs 14.95 euros, which is a considerable price difference with its white, dimmable brother of 7 euros. However, there is also another in between: the dimmable white version with different shades of white. That GU10 lamp has a maximum brightness of 400 lumens and costs 12.95 euros.

Collaboration with Philips Hue

IKEA started its smart home line early on. Tradfri has been around since 2016 and started with a kit with smart lamps. Not long after, it partnered with Philips Hue. This turns out to be a golden opportunity, because it allows both brands to work together. That is very handy, especially now that Action, HEMA, Kruidvat and Lidl all come with their own smart home series and apps.

Especially now that the Tradfri hub is in price reduced, this could be a time to switch to the brand. Especially now there scene support for the smart home series has been announced. On the other hand, the latest firmware update of the lamps does contain an annoying one software error, so you might want to wait a little longer.
