Hue lamps no longer work with new Philips Ambilight TVs

From this year, Philips (or rather TP Vision) will not support Hue lamps any longer. So Hue will work with new Philips Ambilight TVs

From this year, Philips (or rather TP Vision) will remove the option to link Hue lighting to your Ambilight television from its models. The televisions up to and including 2022 still offer this option, so you can have Hue lamps in the back of the room color along with what is happening on television.

This integration did not always work flawlessly, however. For example, there could sometimes be a delay between Ambilight and Hue, and it was no longer possible to use Philips Hue Gradient lamps with an Ambilight television. The integration is now ending; TP Vision tells us German colleagues know.

Although both products have Philips in the name, they are made by two completely different companies. TP Vision is responsible for Philips TVs, while Signify uses Philips Hue lighting. We have heard from a reliable source that the relationship has cooled and that a close, renewed cooperation between the two parties is impossible.

So how can you still connect your Philips Hue lamps to your Ambilight TV? Simply by the Philips Hue HDMI Sync Box to use. That is a pricey accessory and certainly not a perfect product, but it is an option.
