Harman Kardon introduces the Harman Kardon Citation series, a combination of high quality audio, a simplistic design and advanced technologies. Think of voice assistant Google Assistant, LCD display and integrated Chromecast technology.
This is the Harman Kardon Citation series
The Citation series has industrial features such as the aluminum finish. This look is particularly emphasized by the gray and black textiles that work in a dirt-repellent and flame-resistant way. The Citation series combines the knowledge of Harman Kardon in the field of sound engineering with the style of Kvadrat, a European producer of design textiles. Earlier, the company already announced the Citation 500 speaker: a smart speaker with Google Assistant on board, with a price tag of no less than 600 euros (converted from dollars).
The Citation series users are able to use the speakers separately or as a 5.1 surround sound system. With the multiroom function it is possible to control the sound from any room, whether the music comes from one source or if different tracks are being played in other rooms. The Google Assistant is also present here. Smart voice operation makes it easy to manage the agenda, to create lists, to view the weather forecast and to control more smart devices. Commands like “Hey Google, play jazz music” or “Hey Google, dim the light” control the atmosphere in every room of the house.
In addition, Harman Kardon’s Citation speakers have built-in Chromecast technology that exceeds three hundred hd-quality audio and video streaming services. Once connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Citation speaker, a smartphone, tablet or laptop can “cast” the latest release hits or playlists with a Chromecast-compatible app. The Citation speaker range offers all kinds of possibilities, depending on the listening needs: multiple speaker options on the top, a soundbar, active subwoofer and a pair of speaker towers.
Price and availability
The Citation series Harman Kardon will be exhibited at IFA 2018. Each speaker can be pre-ordered from October via the website of the manufacturer. All speakers have wifi and bluetooth, play audio in high definition, have built-in Chromecast functions and have Google Assistant. The Citation One has a price tag of 199 euros, has mono playback and a system power of 40 watts. The Citation 100 costs 299 euros, plays music in mono playback and has a power of 50 watts.
Furthermore, the One and the 100 have a touchscreen, but no LCD color screen. The other speakers have that. Then we have the Citation 300, a stereo speaker with a capacity of 100 watts and price tag of 399 euros. The Citation 500 costs 649 euros, has a power of 200 watts and also plays music in stereo, while the Citation Bar costs 899, has 300 watts of power and of course plays music in stereo. The soundbar also has built-in WiSA technology.
The last three products are the Sub, Tower and Surround. These costs 799 euros, 2,499 euros and 499 euros respectively. The subwoofer and Tower have a power of 400 watts, while the Surround has twice 50 watts. Only the Tower has wifi and bluetooth and the other specifications mentioned above, including WiSA technology.
