Google TV will get smart home control and fitness features in 2022: Last week we talked about Google TV getting support for later this year Google Fast Pair, but Google seems to be coming up with even more options in 2022. We don’t know for sure yet, and Google doesn’t seem to either, but the company is investigating the possibilities for smart home control and fitness for Google TV.
Smart home control on Google TV
The company is researching better integration of smarthomes within the user interface. For example, it should soon be possible to control your smart devices from your TV screen. You can choose routines and switch devices on and off. The company is looking at Android 11 and Android 12 for this, which have received such device control buttons in the quick settings menu.
fitness
Another point that the company wants to do more with is fitness. As you probably know, Google has its own Google Fit app and it also has Fitbit (known for its wearables) taken over. It is unclear exactly how this should be implemented.
Communication
Finally, we also look at ways to communicate via Google TV. Of course a camera is needed for this, but among other things Sony is already going to release a webcam for televisions in 2022. Together with Google Duo, you may soon be able to make video calls to friends or family via your television.
No feature has been officially announced for the time being, but 2022 looks set to be a good year for Google TV.
