If we are to believe the latest rumors, Google Play Movies will soon offer free 4k movies in Google Play Movies. Apple did this before in iTunes: if you had bought a movie that made a 4K version available, the content was automatically updated.

The website Android Police has released a new version of the APK file (an installation and update file of Android apps) from Google Play Movies and predicts that Google will soon offer free updates for content that has already been purchased (when the the film in question is actually available in the higher resolution). Users will then receive a notification within the app that the content is available and can then view it on devices that offer support for this.

In addition, the application may get a filter that allows you to find content that has been upgraded to 4K faster, including the option to sort by the date of the update. Google has been working since 2016 to bring this upgradation content to Play Movies in different countries. Now that such content is becoming more widely available and is increasingly being made available, and more people have a 4K television, it would not be strange if the search engine giant took a big step towards broadening the content.
