Google is working on new Chromecast with Google TV: In 2020 launched Google’s most recent Chromecast HDMI stick. This device is equipped with Google TV, supports the 4K resolution and offers support for HDR10 + and Dolby Vision. You would say that there is not necessarily a need for a new model, but it seems that Google will release a new version.

9to5google reports that Google is developing a new device codenamed Boreal. Instructions for this device, and the fact that it would be a Chromecast device, were found in Google’s software. However, there are no indications on the technical specifications.
In all likelihood, Google will provide the new Chromecast with support for the Av1 codec. This codec enables even more efficient compression of images. It is not yet clear when the new Chromecast will actually appear. The previous generation was not officially marketed in the Netherlands and Belgium, but can be purchased in the Benelux via gray imports.
