Fibaro launches Home Center 3 Lite for smarthome beginners

Fibaro launches Home Center 3 Lite equipped with Z-Wave, Zigbee, more computing power, better security for smarthome beginners

Late last year presented Fibaro the long-awaited Home Center 3, equipped with Z-Wave, Zigbee, more computing power, better security and even more ease of use. Still, this controller can be a step too far for novice users, both in terms of features and price. For this reason, Fibaro is now introducing the Home Center 3 Lite, a stripped-down version of the powerhouse.

Fibaro Home Center 3 Lite

According to Fibaro, the Home Center 3 Lite is the perfect hub for ‘lighter smarthome users’, but basically this device does the same as any other Fibaro Home Center: controlling all your smarthome equipment through scenarios. It is the so-called brain of a smart home, combining all devices to automate safety, comfort, household appliances and lighting.

The new Fibaro controller is intended for the automation of an apartment or medium-sized house (up to 100m2) and up to 40 Z-Wave-Products. There is no support for Zigbee, but the controller works with devices that can be connected to the internet.

As with the extended version (Home Center 3), the smart home hub is equipped with built-in antennas and does not require a wired connection to the router. This can be set via WiFi. In addition, the software includes a simple installation wizard to create the first automations. The Home Center 3 Lite’s language library contains more than 10 languages, including Dutch, English, German, French, Polish and Spanish.

Encrypted data transmission (both in local and remote connections) makes the controller safe. At the same time, the hub has the ability to function locally, a connection to the cloud is not required. There is therefore no risk that the alarm system will not work when the internet provider has a malfunction or is engaged in periodic maintenance. Users who are going to live in a new-build house have local access to automations such as motion detection, flood detection, roller shutter control and light control. The moment the internet becomes active, the system is fully operational and the connected devices can be controlled. In addition, a double system backup (cloud and local) is possible.
