Eve Weather: Outdoor weather sensor with Thread integration

Eve Weather, a new version of the Degree outdoor temperature sensor, has been launched this week, which is a (limited) outdoor weather station.

Just this week announced a new version of the Degree outdoor temperature sensor. The company comes with the Eve Weather, which is a (limited) outdoor weather station and is compatible with the Thread standard.

The new Eve Weather comes with a larger display that shows the temperature, humidity and local weather conditions (air pressure). That in itself is a useful addition to your smart home, but more interesting is that the Weather offers support for it Thread protocol. This allows fast, secure and energy efficient communication with other Thread devices. And since Equal is in favor of HomeKit, you can easily link the company’s products to your Apple smart home through Thread.

Eve has been fully committed to the Thread protocol lately. For example, an update for the second generation Eve Aqua will be released soon, which will add support for the protocol. There will also be a fourth generation Even Energy smart plug with the protocol ingrained. According to Eve, Thread offers great advantages for building the ideal smart home. For example, no cloud connection is required, the connection is well secured, it is easy to use and the protocol hardly affects the battery life of devices. In addition, no bridge or hub is necessary to link Thread compatible devices together.

The Eve Wather should be available from March and will cost $ 69 in the US. The device is controlled by batteries and can of course withstand wind and weather. In the Eve app you can view all data, both live and in the form of graphs over specific periods. If you link the Weather with HomeKit, it is possible to ask Siri about the outside temperature, for example.
