Introducing Dual CS 418 & Dual CS 518: The traditional manufacturer Dual presents two new entry-level turntables in a current press release. They differ in price and in terms of the tonearm mounting. The two lathe machines are available now.

Turntable technology

Both models are manual, belt-driven record player, which are driven by a DC servo motor via a – so dual – precision ground belt and can be operated with a rotary switch at 33 1/3, 45 and 78 revolutions per minute.

The housing material is film-coated MDF, the turntable is a classic die-cast aluminum plate weighing 720 grams and a 3.5 millimeter thick rubber pad.

An Ortofon 2M Red magnet system is installed ex works, and both models also have one MM phono amplifier / equalizer which, however, can also be switched off so that an external phono preamp can be used.

The main difference between the the both models of Dual is this Storage of the tonearm. Although both are gimbaled, the Dual CS 518 has been given a more complex, massive aluminum bearing construction with pivot ball bearings compared to the somewhat simpler solution in the CS 418.

Both models are equipped with resonance-absorbing feet and a removable dust cover.
