That almost ten years ago – at the time under the name MrSpeakers – established companies Dan Clark Audio has focused entirely on the development and manufacture of headphones over the years. With the magnetostatic Dan Clark Audio AEON 2 Noire there’s another addition to the headphone family.
Dan Clark Audio AEON 2 Noire: Technology
The AEON series is not fundamentally new. The AEON 2 Noire is rather a further developed variant of the AEON 2 Closed, but with a different sounding and, according to the press release, a “more thrilling and lively” style of play. The magnetostat used has an area of 62 x 34 millimeters, the left and right drivers of the headphones are matched with a maximum difference of 0.5 dB between 30 and 8,000 Hertz.

Special ear pads with perforations on the inside are used, which should result in a sound signature with airier highs, livelier mids and richer bass compared to the AEON 2 Closed. In addition, the newly developed ear cushions should keep outside sound even better than with the company’s previous headphone models. However, the low weight of 321 grams has remained.
