Blink is since 2017 owned by Amazon. At the time, Blink was a startup and the company was already making camera and security systems. That’s still the case some five years later, but under the Amazon banner. The full name is therefore Blink – An Amazon Company. Earlier we were introduced to the Blink Mini a compact security camera at a bargain price, but now it’s finally time for Blink’s first video doorbell called Blink Video Doorbell.
The Blink Video Doorbell does everything you are used to from a video doorbell. For example, you receive notifications and motion alerts via the Blink app and you can use it wirelessly on two AA lithium batteries or wired. Images can be saved via the cloud with the Blink subscription (free trial available) or via the Blink Sync Module 2 and a USB flash drive. In the latter case, you can save images locally. With a paired Blink Sync Module 2, the two included AA lithium batteries should last up to two years. Of course depending on the use.
The video doorbell is also equipped with a 1080p HD camera, infrared night vision and two-way audio. This model is also waterproof and compatible with Amazon Alexa. Amazon is also offering two new accessories. There is, for example, the Floodlight Mount and a Solar Panel, both for the Blink Outdoor Camera.
