Bang & Olufsen has announced new versions of BeoSound 1 and 2 speakers. The new models feature five built-in microphones for the Google Assistant voice assistant, and they also come with support for Apple’s Airplay 2 and Google’s Chromecast.
New versions of the BeoSound 1 and 2
The new BeoSound 1 and 2 are the first smart speakers from Bang & Olufsen. Both models are renewed and equipped with multiple microphones so that users can talk to the built-in Google Assistant. Even when you listen to music, the five microphones can receive voice commands and the Google Assistant can be used. You can switch off the microphones by means of a button on the bottom of the speaker.
In addition, both models have support for Apple Airplay 2 and Google Chromecast. This makes it possible to use the speakers as part of a multiroom system based on Airplay 2 and you can easily stream audio from Google devices. Airplay 2 also gives you the possibility to operate media by means of voice commands for Siri. The BeoSound 1 is a compact wireless model with battery, while the BeoSound 2 has to be connected to a socket. The new versions must be available from September for prices of 1,500 euro for the small version and 2,000 euro for the large version.
