ASUS is going to launch three new smartphones under ROG Phone 5 series. These are the Asus ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro and the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate. The new series runs on the fastest processor of the moment, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 with 5g support. The 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED screen has a resolution of 2,448 by 1,080 pixels. The screen has a 144 Hz refresh rate with a 300 Hz touch sampling rate, extremely low latency and Delta-E <1 color accuracy. Asus wants to deliver the perfect screen for gamers.

On board we also find a battery with a capacity of 6,000 mAh that you can quickly charge with 65W HyperCharge. The Pro and Ultimate models also come with a matrix display on the back of the housing. Users can display customizable animations on this. The RAM is available with the regular and Pro models up to 16 GB. The Ultimate model even comes with 18 GB of RAM. The storage memory with the ROG Phone 5 goes up to 256 GB. With the Pro and Ultimate model up to 512 GB.
On board we find various sensors and connectivity options such as a fingerprint sensor under the display, face recognition, WiFi 6, bluetooth 5.2, aptX, GPS and NFC. On the back we find three cameras of respectively 64 megapixels, thirteen megapixels (ultra-wide angle) and five megapixels (macro). At the front we find a front camera of 24 megapixels. The device runs on Android 11 with the ROG UI software shell.
Smartphone for gamers
The AirTrigger 5 control system has been further improved especially for gamers. The series comes with 10 different motion controls and the Pro and Ultimate models come with hidden touch buttons on the back that act as L2 / R2 buttons, just like on a game console. The GameFX audio system must provide balanced stereo audio. You can also use these smartphones in combination with gaming accessories.
ROG Phone 5 series – Price and availability
The Asus series will be available to pre-order soon in the webshop of Asus. The price for the regular model starts at 799 euros. The Pro model has a suggested retail price from 1199 euros and the Ultimate will soon be available from 1299 euros. The regular model should be available from this month. The Pro in April and the Ultimate in May.
